Christmas

Find all of my gluten-free Christmas recipes in one place, from cookie platters and party appetizers to Christmas morning breakfast and the sides on your holiday table. I have celiac disease, so every recipe is completely gluten-free and tested until no one at the table can tell the difference. Start with my gluten-free gingerbread cookies or gluten-free snowball cookies for your cookie tray, then bake a Christmas tree focaccia for the appetizer table. For Christmas morning, my gluten-free cinnamon pull apart bread is always a hit.

Tips for a Gluten-Free Christmas

  • Bake cookies ahead and freeze. Most of my gluten-free cookie doughs freeze really well. Scoop and freeze the dough in early December, then bake fresh batches all month long.
  • Check labels on holiday ingredients. Sprinkles, candy canes, chocolate chips, broth, and gravy mixes can contain gluten or be made on shared lines. Always read the label, even on brands you’ve bought before.
  • Plan for cross-contact at parties. If you’re bringing a dish to a gathering, give it its own serving utensil and set it out before other food hits the table so crumbs don’t end up in it.
  • Use a food scale for holiday baking. Gluten-free flours pack differently in a measuring cup, so weighing your flour is the easiest way to get consistent results with every batch.

FAQs

Can I make gluten-free Christmas cookies ahead of time?

Yes! Most gluten-free cookie dough freezes really well. Scoop the dough into balls and freeze, then bake straight from frozen (just add a minute or two to the bake time). Baked cookies can also be frozen once they’ve cooled, so you can build your cookie tray a little at a time.

Are sprinkles and candy canes gluten-free?

Many are, but not all. Some sprinkles contain wheat starch, and some holiday candies are made on shared lines with wheat. Always check the label for a gluten-free claim and the allergen statement before you start decorating.

How do I keep my gluten-free food safe at a holiday party?

Bring at least one dish you know is safe, give it its own serving spoon, and fill your plate first before anything gets mixed up. If you’re hosting, set the gluten-free dishes out separately and keep crackers and bread on their own board.

What gluten-free flour should I use for holiday baking?

It depends on the recipe. I always tell you exactly which flour blend I used in each post, because that’s the one I tested with. For the best results, use that blend and only swap ingredients if I say it works.

Can I make a whole gluten-free Christmas dinner?

Absolutely! Start with gluten-free dinner rolls and scalloped potatoes, add mashed potatoes with homemade gluten-free gravy, and finish with gingerbread cookies or a gingerbread bundt cake. Every recipe in this category is completely gluten-free.
