We had some hot weather in Chicago this past weekend and this strawberry banana nice cream was stocked in the freezer all weekend long! If you know me, you know I’m not a huge fan of really hot weather.
Anything over 75F is a bit too warm for my liking. When the weather gets that hot, I stock up on lots of water to stay hydrated and frozen treats, like nice cream!
If you haven’t heard of nice cream before, it’s ice cream made from bananas!
When frozen bananas are pureed, they take on this creamy texture that is reminiscent of ice cream. Now, it’s not really ice cream. But it’s a great substitution if you’re dairy-free or looking to stay away from added sugars.
I really don’t feel bad about eating a whole bowl of this strawberry banana nice cream because it only contains bananas and strawberries! That’s really it.
Banana nice cream is gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, and refined sugar free. It’s creamy, sweet, and feels just a little bit indulgent. And dare I say… it’s even a little bit healthy?

The secret to achieving the perfect nice cream is to freeze your bananas. We keep a ton of bananas in our house but sometimes they ripen quicker than we can eat them.
That’s the perfect opportunity for some easy banana nice cream, friends! Just peel, slice, and freeze in a single layer on a baking sheet.
Once frozen, pop those babies into a freezer-safe container and when you’re ready to make banana nice cream, you’re ready to go!
All you need is a food processor to make banana nice cream. Nothing fancy. Just a basic food processor will do. And a spatula.

Ingredients
- 2 bananas (sliced)
- 1 cup strawberries (cut into quarters)
Instructions
- Line a baking sheet with parchment or wax paper. Place banana and strawberry slices on the baking sheet. Freeze for 2-3 hours until frozen
- Add frozen bananas and strawberies to a food processor. Process 5-10 minutes, until completely smooth. You will need to occasionally stop and scrape down the sides with a spatula.
- Serve immediately for soft serve or for a scoopable nice cream freeze for 1-4 hours, until ice cream is firm. Defrost for 5-10 minutes before serving.
