I love margaritas because they are so easy to make and there are so many different flavors!
In my twenties, I was very convinced margaritas were only made from low quality tequila and margarita mix with questionable ingredients.
I didn’t know any better! And trust me, I was not a fan.
However, once I finally had a margarita made with good quality tequila and fresh ingredients, I was hooked! Now margaritas are easily my cocktail of choice when I’m out to dinner and they are definitely one of my favorites to serve when entertaining at home.
Why? Because they’re so easy! This pineapple margarita is served on the rocks and only requires 5 simple ingredients. They’re easy to shake up in your cocktail shaker and serve to your guests.

Are Margaritas Gluten-Free?
Margaritas are typically made with tequila, triple sec and lime juice as the most basic level.
Tequila is made from the agave plant and is naturally gluten-free. There are some cheaper brands of tequila that are “mixto” meaning that they are mixed with other alcohols and may not be gluten-free. Make sure that your tequila contains 100% agave to be sure it’s gluten-free (and honestly… it tastes better, too).
Triple sec is a liquer distilled from orange peels and is gluten-free. I typically use Cointreau in my margaritas. However, if I’m in a pinch, I’ll also use Grand Marnier, which is a combination of triple sec and cognac.
If you’re out and about at restaurants, the most concerning part about the question ‘Are Margaritas Gluten-Free’ is if the restaurant or bar uses margarita mix. Often times, these margarita mixes do contain gluten and that’s something you’ll want to be aware of.
I am not particularly a fan of margarita mixes in general and much prefer a basic margarita that contains tequila, triple sec, lime juice, and fruit juice if I’m going for a flavored margarita

FAQs and Tips for Making Pineapple Margaritas
Just use a tequila that you like to drink. Make sure it is pure agave tequila and not “mixto” which is not always gluten-free. Some brands I enjoy drinking are Casamigos, Espolòn, Casa Noble, and 1800 Tequila.
No, you don’t. I personally just use an old-fashioned glass instead of a margarita glass.
I like to use kosher salt for the salt rim because the granules are larger and I love the texture. Coarse sea salt is another good option. I don’t like to use table salt because the particles are too fine and much too salty. You could also use a sugar rim if you prefer!
