Gruyère and Emmental cheeses come together in this easy cheese fondue recipe for an interactive and velvety cheese appetizer that is sure to be a crowd-pleaser. It comes together in just about 10 minutes and is so simple to make.

Let's make cheese fondue together! Gather your ingredients.

Place the Gruyère and Emmental cheeses to a large bowl. Add the cornstarch to the bowl.

Mix until the cheeses are completely covered in the cornstarch. Set aside.

Rub the garlic clove halves all over the inside of the fondue pot to impart garlic flavor into the fondue.

Pour the wine into the fondue pot.

Bring it to a simmer over medium heat.

Once the wine is simmering, add the lemon juice, nutmeg, mustard powder and pepper.

Stir until combined.

Gradually add the shredded cheese mixture to the wine.

Stir with a rubber spatula until the cheese is melted before adding the next handful of cheese.

Continue with the rest of the cheese, one handful at a time, mixing in between each addition.

Keep stirring until the cheese is completely melted and smooth.

Add the Kirsch or Cognac to the cheese. Stir until combined.

To serve, keep the cheese fondue warm over low heat.

Serve with bread, broccoli, apples or your favorite dippers!
